The June challenge at Papercraft Business Challenge is Father’s Day/Male project. When I saw this new Lovely Legs – Father and Son stamp set from Colorado Craft Company I fell in love with it! It reminded me of my grandfather and myself when I was a child. My daughter said it reminded her of her and her father so I knew I had to get it!
I began by doing some repeat stamping in the background using a light brown ink onto a 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” piece of kraft cardstock. I lined the stamp up in the Misti so that I could just slide the panel over a couple of squares and stamp again. I was also able to slide it up and down by a few squares to get a staggered effect. It’s subtle and doesn’t interfere with the main image but I think it adds a little something to the card.
I used three Copic markers for the truck body in R89, R27, R24. The overalls were done in B99, B97, B95, B93. All of the grays except the tires are done with C1, C3, C5 with the tires being N4, N6, N8. The browns used were E53, E55, E57, E59. Not all images use all the markers as I varied the darkness of items. The “wall” and the “floor” were done using E53 and E55 just to ground the images and faded out with the 0 marker. I also added a shadow under the truck with the C markers.
The sentiment is the same image I used in the background. I used the same red markers on a scrap of kraft cardstock to color a space large enough to stamp the image in black. I then fussy cut it and adhered it with foam tape. I added white gel pen highlights in a few places to finish it off. I have to add that when I first looked at the image the thought of coloring it was intimidating but the most important parts were the truck and the overalls. Everything else just needed the idea of color to add to the scene and not be a focal point. It turned out fairly easy in the end!
I hope you like the card and will give it a try yourself. Whatever project you do, remember to enter it in the challenge at Papercraft Business Challenge! You’ll have a chance to win the stamp shown above.
